DOJ Handgun Safety and Familiarization

Description

This course provides you the knowledge to understand handgun safety regulations and the laws regarding the possession of and owning a firearm, laws and standards regarding the use of deadly force in your home and self-defense. We also provide instructions about the firearm nomenclature and maintenance, the basic firearms safety rules, home firearms safety, the elements of pistol marksmanship. Practical application Training will consist of use of an “Airsoft Pistol” at proscribed training locations to conduct training.

In order to complete this course, students must perform a Firearm Safety Handling demonstration, be expected to know the six basic gun safety rules, and are expected to know and perform 6 to 12 stationary safety handling steps depending on the type of Firearm.

This course does not utilize real handguns or live fire.

This course is no more than 3 hours long

California Department of Justice (DOJ) Handgun Safety Test and Certificate is provided upon completion of this course for a $25 Processing fee. Your information will be entered into database and your certification card will arrive by mail.

NRA Home Firearms Safety Course

Description

Learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. This course will cover the NRA’s safety rules for safe gun handling:

  • Primary causes of firearms accidents
  • Types of firearm parts
  • How to unload different action types
  • Correct ammunition to use
  • How to clean your firearm
  • Proper care of your firearm
  • Safe storage of firearms in the home

This is a 4 hour Non-shooting course conducted in a classroom. Upon completion of this course, students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, and course completion certificate.

NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course

Prerequisite

This course is for those who have completed the NRA pistol Instructor requirements. Any federal, state, or local law Enforcement officers, military and experienced shooters can attend this course as long as they have the NRA Basic Pistol Course complete. All shooters attending this course must be able to show proficiency by conducting an accuracy zeroing shooting (8 Rounds) on the target with their handgun for grouping to see where they stand in their shooting ability.

Description

Learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to violent intruders. Students should expect to shoot approximately 200 to 300 rounds of ammunition.

Upon completion of this course, students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In the Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.

Required Equipment

Semi-automatic handguns are preferred. 9mm, 40 caliber, or 22 Caliber. 200-300 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection. Two or more magazines (bring more if you have them).

Range Safety Officer

Description

The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for anationally recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

This course is conducted in a classroom and at a shooting facility. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO, Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), range inspection, range rules, range briefings, emergency procedures, and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, an Instructor Application/Course Evaluation form.

Introduction to Shooting

Description

Our Introduction to Shooting is designed for first time shooters who want to learn correct shooting techniques and understand the fundamentals of firearm safety without the intensity of the NRA or DOJ certification courses. Though we take firearms seriously, our intro lessons are taught in a relaxed atmosphere for a fun and rewarding learning experience.

Targets, hearing and eye protection are provided, however you are welcome to bring your own.

Handgun Refresher Course

Description

Our Handgun Refresher Course is designed for individuals who have first-hand knowledge with shooting a handgun. You will learn safety procedures, clearing, loading, unloading, function checks and all other procedures, remedial action drills, stovepipes and cartridge jams, and proper cleaning methods of your firearm.

Targets, hearing and eye protection are provided, however you are welcome to bring your own.

BSIS Guard Card

Description

The Guard Card phase 1 training covers:

  • The role and responsibilities of the security officer
  • Powers to Arrest and training requirement
  • Firearms
  • Authority to carry an exposed firearm
  • Exemption from private security service act
  • Peace officer exemptions
  • Batons, Tear Gas, Uniform Patches Badges and vehicles
  • Security officer’s role in preventing an incident
  • Nature of terrorism
  • Weapons of mass destruction and coordination of critical information

Once all the training has been completed you will receive a certificate of completion.

Description
